History[]

King Philip[]

Since 1067 The coutnry had a close relationship with the Erkatian Empire, which was oficiated in 1103 with the marriage of King Philip of Plancy, whose family descended from Thuringian nobles, to the daughter of the Erkatian Emperor. Since then the two countries shared a long military and trading alliance.

Plantations and Slave Trading[]

during the years after 1100 and as Cartegan and Celasian rule over Godwanna was gradually becoming absolute the Plancian merchant managed to export seeds of coffee, tobbacco, cocoa and cotton to the Erkatian empire from Godwanna and cultivate them there in large plantations.

The plantations gave rise to a flourishing slave trade between Godwanna and Erkat. After the Treaty of Tordesillas the Plancian slave merchants managed to retain four villages in the grey zone close the line defined by the Treaty for use as slave port.

Collapse of Erkatian Empire[]

After the collapse of the Erkatian empire Plancy has retained most of its plantations there. When slave trading was abolished, slavery did not vanish since Plancy had no interest in prosecuting its plantation owners abroad. Gradually though, the acquisition of cheap slaves became harder and harder and by 1400 most of the plantation workers are either cheap local workers, or former slaves who have decided to buy their freedom by working.
